Yankees shut down Pineda

It’s a good thing Pettitte will be back in a few weeks.

For Michael Pineda may not be back for quite some time.

Joel Sherman on Twitter reports:

Pineda IP in extend spring, still felt some shoulder weakness, shut down, #Yankees will determine next few days how to proceed

Before this, it was thought that Pineda might be ready around Memorial Day. Now, you have to wonder.

So it now appears that it’ll be between Hughes and Garcia for that last rotation spot.

Of course, Kuroda has to pitch better, also.

Update from Meredith Marakovits, YES: Pineda to see a doctor on Monday. Pettitte to pitch for AA Trenton Wednesday.

One Response to Yankees shut down Pineda

  1. Went to dinner down 9-0 only to come home down 9-8 and then it all started to happen. This is a HUGE win for this team and gives notice to all that we are never out of a game. Next time i see one of those hats with a big B on the front i will have to ask when they will add the V to it. He looked like a dead man walking out to change pitchers and why he issued two intentional walks in the 8th would infuriate me if Girardi chose to do something so stupid.
