Hideki Matsui, the MVP of the 2009 WS for the Yankees, announced his retirement today. He hit 175 MLB HR, but if you combine that with the HR he hit in Japan (332) you get 507.
I always loved Matsui. He was a low maintainence PROFESSIONAL. A clutch player who was also classy.
Who can forget when he apologized to his fans and to his teammates for breaking his wrist (which cost him 100 games one year)?
A Classy Yankee. I can only hope that he makes MANY Old-Timer’s games.
