Wednesday’s minors.

AAA: SWB won 3-1. Brian Gordon (2-2, 4.23) 7 Ip, 1 R, 7 h, 2 walks, 3 K. Jose Ramirez (keep an eye on him for a possible 2014 callup) and Matt Daley finished up. It was Ramirez’ first appearance of the year. He’s 24 and the team is high on him. Last year he was 2-6, 3.67 between AA/AAA with 78 K in 73 2/3 IP. Meanwhile, the Yanks released IF/OF Ronnier Mustelier. 3B Zelous Wheeler with a hit, rbi (.373).

AA: Trenton won 6-4 in 12 innings. Jairo Heredia 3 scoreless IP of relief, W, 6 K. Heredia, 24, is someone I’ve been following for a while. He missed all of 2012 with shoulder surgery. He’s 6’1″, 250, and a lefty bat. Callup to AAA coming soon?

High A: Tampa got four in the eighth to win 4-2. Eric Wooten (2.89) 2 R, 7 IP. RF Pete O’Brien and 3B Eric Jagielo with back-to-back HR, O’Brien’s a 2-run shot. O’Brien is at .330-10-19. The righty-hitter will be 24 in July.

The minors.

I’ve been busy and up to NYC so I haven’t written much about the minors recently. Also, there have been some callups. Of the four top teams, only AA Trenton is playoff-bound.

AAA: SWB (68-76) closed their season with a 13-3 loss. Starter Caleb Cotham pitched like he couldn’t wait to end the year. 9 R in 2/3 of an inning. He ends the season 6-6, 5.48. Corey Patterson solo HR, 2 RBI for Ronnier Mustelier.

AA: Trenton 74-67, rained out. Season over. They will be a wild card in the playoffs. Playoffs vs. Binghamton start Wednesday.

High A: Tampa done. 30-38 second half, 28-40 first half, 58-78 overall.

Low A: Charleston won 1-0 on a combined 1-hitter. RBI 1B Greg Bird. 75-63 overall. Season over. Not good enough for a playoff spot.

The minors. Lot of extras.

AAA: SWB won 5-4 in 12. C J.R. Murphy 3 hits, 2 doubles, solo HR. LF Ronnier Mustelier 3 h, 2 doubles. CF Adonis Garcia 2 h, 2 rbi.

AA: Trenton won 9-8 in 12. Both Trenton and New Britain scored twice in the 11th, New Britain got a run in the top of the 12th but Trenton came back with two. DH Ramon Flores 3 h, double, 2 RBI. 1B Kyle Roller a 3-run HR.

High A: Tampa swept by DH, both by 2-0.

Game 1: 7 inn. Rony Bautista 5 scoreless. RF Cody Grice and C Tyson Blaser 2 hits each.

Game 2: (ppd from 8/22) 2-0 in 9. 3B Pete O’Brien 2-run walk-off HR.

Low A: Charleston gave up a run in the bottom of the 9th and another in the 11th to lose 2-1. RF Danny Oh 3 for 3.

The minors.

Wednesday’s Yankees farm teams’ action.

AAA: SWB lost 6-3. Brett Marshall 7-10, 5.40, 5 R in 5 IP. Yoshinori Tateyama 5 K in 2 scoreless IP. LF Ronnier Mustelier 3 for 3, rbi.

AA:  Trenton won 3-1. Shane Greene 7-3, 3.22 w 1 R in 7 IP. RF Ben Gamel 2 h, 2 rbi.

High A: Tampa won 4-2. Jairo Heredia (3-1, 2.30) 2 R in 7 IP. SS Cito Culver 3 hits. 3B Pete O’Brien 2 h, rbi. DH Jose Toussen 2 rbi.

Low A: Charleston lost 7-4. DH Jake Cave w/2h. Evan Rutckyj 6 R, 5 ER in 2 1/3. (10-9, 5.03).

The minors today.

AAA: SWB beat Lehigh Valley 3-1. Chase Whitley 5 IP, 1 unearned run. SWB is starting a lot of bullpen or middle relief guys right now as they finish the season. Dellin Betances 3 scoreless, 4 K. RF Ronnier Mustelier 3 3h, rbi. 1B Dan Johnson and C J.R. Murphy 2 hits each.

AA: Trenton lost 6-4. 1B Kyle Roller w/ 2 h, HR, 2 RBI. CF Mason Williams 2 h, triple, rbi.

High A: Tampa got hammered by Clearwater 11-2.

Low A: Charleston got a run in the bottom of the 11th to win 3-2. Jose Campos 2 scoreless, 3 K, the w, ERA 3.49. 1b Greg Bird 3 H, double, HR, 2 RBI.

The minors.

AAA: SWB lost 7-3 to LV. Brett Marshall (5-9, 5.45) 7 R in 5 1/3. Solo HR for 3B Ronnier Mustelier. RF Adonis Garcia w/2H. 2 hits, RBI DH Randy Ruiz.

AA: Trenton won 4-3. Shane Greene (5-3, 3.08) 3 R, 2 ER, 8 K in 6 IP. Tommy Kahnle, who the Phils (50-61) wouldn’t take for 2 months of Michael Young, 2 scoreless IP, ERA 2.22, 3 K. 3B Casey Stephenson 3 for 3, 2 doubles. C  Gary Sanchez first game at AA. Double, RBI.

High A: Tampa scored four in the bottom of the 9th to win 7-6.

Low A: Charleston lost 6-5. CF Jake Cave 2 doubles. LF Ericson Leonora 2 H, 2 RBI.

The minors.

AAA: SWB won 2-1 in 12. Caleb Cotham 6 IP, 1 R. 2 1/3 scoreless for Dellin Betances (3.09). David Adams 3 for 6, rbi (now do it in the majors, Adams!). Mustelier and Johnson 2 h each, Neal w/3.

AA: 3-1 loss for Trenton. Jeremy Bleich 1 UE in 4 IP (2.72). Tommy Kahnle 2 scoreless IP (2.31). Word is the Yanks offered Kahnle to the Phils for Michael Young and offered to accept all of Young’s contract and the Phils turned it down. Don’t ask me why. The Phils’ BP sucks. They have an up-and-coming 3B in Asche. They get BP help which they need (Pimplebutt blew another save for them last night) and the Yanks would have assumed Young’s salary. Kahnle is 1-2, 2.31 at Trenton. So now we can only hope Kahnle develops and the Phils rue their decision.

High A: Tampa lost 10-4. Dietrich Enns gave up 8 R in just 2 IP. 3B Pete O’Brien solo HR. 1B Saxon Butler 2 H, 2 RBI.

Low A: Charleston completed a game started 7/7. They lost that one 2-0 despite getting 10 hits. They lost the regularly scheduled game 5-4. Brett Gerritse 4 R, 1 ER in 5 IP.

Good article in USA Today. Is today D-Day for A-Rod? But the article states how Yankee fans may want to celebrate A-Rod’s suspension. Should he be banned, the Yanks do NOT have to pay his salary, the get under the cap for 2014 and their clock is reset to zero. Meaning they can spend like the Yankees again in 2015. … and some teams don’t like that. They feel as if the Yanks will actually be rewarded for Alex’s misdeeds. Which they very well could be.
