Game 7. A-Rod ties Griffey on HR list as Yanks shutout Angels 5-0

The home opener.

The Yanks won their fourth straight game as they shutout the Angels 5-0 on the strong pitching of Hiroki Kuroda.

Kuroda (1-1) went 8, 0 R, 5 H, 2 walks and 6 K. This is the Kuroda Yankees’ fans were hoping for when the Yanks signed the 37 year old this offseason.

David Robertson finished up, 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.

Nick Swisher (2 hits) gave Kuroda all the runs he needed with a 3-run double in the first.

A-Rod (3 hits) hit a HR in the third. The HR, #630* (asterisk unfortunately necessary) tied Ken Griffey, Jr. for fifth on the all-time career list. A-Rod is now 30 HR behind Willie Mays for fourth place on the all-time list.

Curtis Granderson hit a HR in the fifth to make it 5-0, the eventual final score.

Derek Jeter got hit #3099.
