Apparently Pettitte is coming back. The Yanks are supposedly close to a deal with him for about $10-$11 MM.
They are apparently close to a deal with Mo too. That could be finalized in a week.
While it’s great to have both of them back, (what Yankees fan wouldn’t want them back? Pettitte could get win #250 next year [5 short], and if Mo gets 42 saves, that puts him at 650 saves) you have to wonder about age. Andy is 41 next June. Mo turns 43 this week.
You want a competitive team on the field. You don’t want every game to be “old timer’s day.” As I’ve already stated, a team with Mo, Pettitte, Jeter, A-Rod, Ichiro, Chavez, Kuroda, Ibanez … that’s a lot of age, and if they all hit the wall at once, that is 1/3 of your roster hitting the wall.
