Having lost 10 of their last 11 games, the Yankees hit 4 HR and scored 11 runs before an out was recorded in the bottom of the second inning as they cruised to a 14-1 win over KC today.
Brett Gardner led off the bottom of the first with a double, and Chase Headley homered (6). After a single, and a walk, Brian McCann made it 5-0 before an out was recorded when he homered (5). Before the inning was over, Brett Gardner hit a 3-run HR (4) and it was 8-0 after the first inning.
Stephen Drew made it 11-0 with a three-run HR (5) in the second.
KC got a run in the fifth off of Nathan Eovaldi, the beneficiary of all those homers.
The Yanks got a run back in the fifth on a Headley double, and then in the seventh, Slade “Cum On Feel the Noize” Heathcott hit a 2-run HR to make it 14-1. It was Heathcott’s first MLB HR.
Jacob Lindgren made his MLB debut and pitched two scoreless innings.
