Game 51. Yanks fall into tie for first after 3-0 loss.

Adam Warren pitched a fine game but was the victim of a lack of run support as the Yanks lost to Oakland 3-0 on Sunday. With the loss, the Yanks end May at 26-25 and in a tie with Tampa Bay for first place in the AL East.

Warren 7 IP, 2 R,  6 H, 1 walk and 4 K. (3-4, 3.75)
Rogers 1/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 0 walks and 0 K. 4.94
Lindgren 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 0 K. 5.40
Carpenter 1/3 iP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 0 K. 4.91.

A-Rod had two hits to put his career total at 2986.

Tanaka will come back Wednesday, and take Capuano’s spot in the rotation. What may be very interesting is when Nova is going to come back.

When Nova comes back, someone in the rotation will need to be bumped. Girardi has stated that he has no plans to go with a six-man rotation.

Warren may be bumped in order to strengthen the bullpen in front of Betances and Miller. But, even though he has a losing record at 3-4, he is making a case to stay in the rotation. He really has not pitched too badly, and his last couple of starts have been very good.

It will be an interesting decision when the time comes (unless, of course, an injury makes that decision easier).
