The Yanks lost to the Angels, last night, 4-1. In their last three losses, the Yanks have scored, 0, 1 and 1 run (Thursday, Sunday and yesterday, Monday). Hopefully the bats break out soon.

The Yanks have lost six of their last nine games. They are now 41-36, still 1/2 game behind Tampa Bay and Baltimore, in third place in the AL East. Toronto is in fourth, one game back, in a very close division. What the teams do between now and the trade deadline as far as making a big deal could mean the division. It’s a tossup right now. Right now, the Yanks are the second wild card.

CC Sabathia went 7 1/3, giving up 4 runs, including HR to superstar Mike Trout and to C.J. Cron, and an RBI double to Albert Pujols.  Trout also played some excellent defense, robbing some Yanks of key hits.

The only Yanks’ run came on an RBI single by A-Rod. The hit enabled Alex to pass Wade Boggs on the all-time hit list with 3011. Next up is Rafael Palmeiro at 3020.

Sabathia (L, 3-8, 5.59) 7 1/3 IP, 4 R, 6 H, 1 walk and 5 K.
Rumbelow 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 walk, 1 K, 6. 75.

From the LOHUD Yankees blog:

Although Girardi said pregame that the Yankees would stay on rotation, leaving Warren in line to start Wednesday’s series finale, Warren told The Daily News that he’s being moved into the bullpen. The move gives the Yankees what should be the right-handed reliever they’ve been looking for. It also takes care of some workload concerns for Warren, who’s already thrown more innings than in either of the past two seasons.

But it also takes away one of the Yankees’ most reliable starters, and leaves room for the guy with eight losses and a 5.59 ERA.

My note: It also takes out of the rotation the Yankees starter that happens to have the lowest ERA.
