The Yanks ended the first half at 44-37 (pace, 88-74) with another walk0ff win over the Rays today, 3-2. The win, coupled with a Baltimore loss, upped the Yanks AL East lead to two games.

Michael Pineda was brilliant, but got a no decision.

The Yanks scored two in the first on singles by Gardner, Headley and A-Rod (RBI) and a SF by Teixeira.

So it stood until the 9th, when Dellin Betances slipped up and gave up a game-tying two-run HR.

But in the bottom of the 9th, Teixeira doubled and was replaced by Jose Pirela as a pinch-runner. Chris Young, down 0-2, worked out a walk and Ramon Flores put down a sac bunt. The pitcher made a bad throw and the ball didn’t get too far away but it was far enough for Pirela to make the turn at third, charge home, and score the winning run.

Pineda 7 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 1 walk and 10 K. 3.79.
Wilson 2/3 IP, 0 r, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K. 3,07
Betances 1 1/3 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 0 walks and 2 K. Win, 5-1, 1.50.
