Game 107. Jake jacks one! Yanks win 2-1.

Jacoby Ellsbury broke open a 1-1 tie with a seventh-inning HR (5) as the Yanks edged Boston tonight, 2-1.

With the win, the 61-46 Yanks stay 4 1/2 up on Toronto. The two teams have a big three-game series in the Bronx this weekend. Hopefully the Yanks take two of three or sweep.

For the struggling CC Sabathia, a great night. He didn’t get a decision, but in the midst of a difficult year for him, he came up big tonight. 1 R in 6 IP.

The Yanks could really use that down the stretch.

The Yanks broke on top in the third when Gardner singled and scored on an A-Rod double.

CC gave one back in the fifth, when a couple of hits barely eluded Didi Gregorius (game of inches). CC, after giving up one run, got out of a bases loaded jam by striking out Ortiz.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Yanks got singles by Ryan and Ellsbury, and Gardner bunted them over. After an intentional walk to A-Rod, Teix and Chris Young both popped up. Opportunity wasted.

But in the seventh, Ellsbury’s fifth HR of the year was the game winner.

Sabathia 6 IP, 1 R, 3 H, 3 walks and 8 K. 5.34
Wilson (W, 4-0, 2.54) 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 3 K.
Betances 1 IP, 0 R, 1H, 0 walks and 1 K. 1.29
Miller (24th save) 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk and 1 K. 1.70
