“He belongs,” veteran catcher Brian McCann said. “He knows he belongs. He continues to show people he belongs.”
From the Lohud Yankees blog, that is Brian McCann speaking about Luis Severino.
I would have no qualms about Severino starting a playoff game or even the one game wild card playoff game.
The kid (21 year old rookie) has been great.
The Yanks picked up a game on Toronto tonight with a 5-2 win and are now 1/2 game behind the Blue Jays in the AL East after Toronto lost to Baltimore.
The Yanks only got four hits tonight, but they made them count since three were home runs.
The Yanks went up 2-0 in the second on a 2-run HR by Alex (27). It was the 681st HR * of A-Rod’s career. Hit 3051 places him just two behind Rod Carew on the all-time list. Rickey Henderson at 3055 and Craig Biggio at 3060 will also be passed soon. After that it will be a while before A-Rod passes someone else, but he will end 2015 in 21st place on the all-time hit list.
Brian McCann’s 24th HR of the season made it 3-0 in the fourth.
Severino gave up a HR to Evan Longoria in the sixth to cut the lead to 3-1 but Greg Bird hit a 2-Run HR (4) for the Yanks in the seventh to make it 5-1.
The Rays got a run in the ninth, but the final was 5-2 Yanks.

Jacoby Ellsbury was removed from the game but it had nothing to due with his hip. He has also been fighting the flu.
After a shot and an new knee brace, CC Sabathia threw a simulated game today, felt good and is pencilled in to start nezxt Wednesday. This gives everyone in the rotation an extra day of rest.
Before the game, the Yanks DL’d Teixeira retroactive to Aug. 27 and recalled Nick Rumbelow. Hopefully Teix will be back in two weeks.
