KC trounced Toronto 14-2 Tuesday afternoon to take a three games to one lead in their ALCS. It was so bad that Toronto became the first team ever to use a position player as a pitcher in a postseason game.
The last time these two teams met in the ALCS, in 1985, KC came back from 3-1 down to go to the World Series, and in that Series, they came back from 3-1 down to St. Louis to win their only World Championship so far.
Meanwhile the Mets beat the Cubs 5-2 to go up three games to none in their NLCS. The Cubs haven’t been to a WS since 1945 and haven’t won the whole thing since 1908.
Daniel Murphy homered in his fifth straight postseason game for the Mets.
You’ve probably heard of the curse of the Billy Goat. That in 1945, a Chicago tavern owner wanted to bring his pet goat to the ballpark, was denied, and supposedly put a jinx on the Cubs.
The goat’s name was….. Murphy. No kidding.
Now if only Jacob deGrom can get a haircut. He has more hair than that goat did.
Game 5 of the ALCS is this afternoon, Game 4 of the NLCS is tonight.
Perhaps tomorrow, the WS will be set.
