Mets sweep Cubs to make Series; Jays stay alive

The Mets are going to the World Series for the first time since losing to the Yankees in 2000. They completed a four-game sweep of the Cubs by beating them 8-3 on Wednesday night.

For the Cubs, they haven’t been to a WS since 1945 and haven’t won one since 1908, and the legend of Murphy the Billy Goat, and the curse continues.

Worse yet, it was a Murphy who won the NLCS MVP. Daniel Murphy homered in his sixth consecutive postseason game, a record.

Lucas Duda had a HR and 5 RBI in the game.

For manager Terry Collins, his first WS after a long wait.

In the AL, Toronto stayed alive by beating KC 7-1. KC got just four hits in the game, and Toronto SS Troy Tulowitzki drove in 3 runs.

KC still leads the series three games to two. The ALCS resumes Friday night in Kansas City.
