S.T. Game 3. Yanks blanked, 3-0.

Yankee pitchers only gave up two hits today, but one was a 3-run HR to future Hall-of-Famer Miguel Cabrera, and the Yanks lost to Detroit 3-0.

If Cabrera, the only triple crown winner since 1967, retired today, his .321 career average and 408 HR would probably make him a first ballot Hall of Famer. He turns 33 in April. Lord knows what his final numbers will look like when he does hang up his spikes.

Bryan Mitchell, looking to do the “Adam Warren” job this season as a spot starter/long reliever, had a couple of good innings, as did top prospect James Kaprielian and Luis Cessa. Cessa was one of the guys acquired from Detroit for Justin Wilson in order to give some starting rotation depth at AAA.Vinnie Pestano, looking to be one of the bridges to Betances/Miller/Chapman, gave up the HR.

The Yanks had six hits in the game.

The pitching rundown:

Mitchell 2 IP, 0R, 0 H, 1 walk and 2 K. 1 HBP
Pestano 1 IP, 3 R, 1 H, 1 walk, 2 K, gave up the HR and hit a batter. (L)
Yates 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
Kaprielian 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Cessa 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
