S.T. Game 5. Refsnyder impressive in Yanks’ 6-5 loss.

Chad Green had a rough outing in the Yanks’ 6-5 loss to the Phils on Sunday, and Brandon Pinder gave up a 3-run HR, but for his first game at 3B, Rob Refsnyder had an impressive outing.

On the first ball hit to him, Refsnyder made a nifty pick to start a DP. There is no question about his bat, it’s his defense that is questionable. Refsnyder, a converted OF, has had people doubt him at 2B (hence the trade for Castro) but if he can handle 3B, and can prove himself to be someone with a good stick who could handle both outfield corners, 2B and 3B, he becomes more versatile and valuable.

Besides, I am not that sold on Headley. Sorry.

Refsnyder had a single and a walk, and stole two bases on top of playing well defensively in his first S.T. game at 3B.

Masahiro Tanaka, the presumed Yankee Opening Day starter, threw two scoreless innings.

C Austin Romine had two doubles and drove in three runs.

SS Jorge Mateo had another hit, a walk, and a SB.

Tanaka 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 1 walk and 2 K.
Swarzak 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Pazos 1 IP, 0 R, 0 h, 2 walks and 0 K.
Green (L) 2/3 IP, 5 R, 3 H, 2 Walks and 0 K.
Pinder 1/3 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 walks and 0 K. Gave up 3-run HR.
Campos 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 walks and 1 K.
Webb 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, and 1 K.
