S.T. Game 8. Yanks tie Mets, 4-4. Nova solid.

This is going to be brief. It has been a long night for me after a deer hit my car. (I am fine, I don’t know about the deer, the car is drivable, but dent in left front fender and I can’t open the driver’s side car door, which makes getting in and out via the passenger door a pain. Have to get fixed, see what the estimate is, how much insurance covers, etc.)

As I wrote last week, this will be an interesting spring training for Ivan Nova,  who is #6 in a five-man rotation. Does he make the rotation, is used as trade bait, becomes a long man… what?

He had a great day today, pitching three scoreless innings.

The Yanks needed two homers in the ninth to tie the game, and the game was called after ten innings with the Yankees and Mets tied 4-4.

The homers came from Kyle Higashioka and Sebastian Valle.

Dustin Ackley had two hits, but I read where some of his defense today was lacking, and he wasn’t the only one.

The Yanks made three errors in the game, and there were a few more mental errors.

Chris Parmalee had two hits, himself.

The pitching line:

Nova 3 IP, 0 R, 3 h, 1 walk and 1 K.
Kaprielian 1 2/3 IP, 4 R, 2 ER, 4 h, 2 walks and 1 K. He wasn’t helped by the D.
Goody 1 1/3 IP. 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
Barbato 1 iP, 0 r, 0 h, 0 walks and 1K
Pinder 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 2 walks and 0 K.
Montgomery 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
Lindgren 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk and 1 K.

Interesting to see the battle among the relievers to make the team.
