Luis Severino pitched four scoreless innings before faltering in the fifth, and A-Rod drove in two runs as the Yanks beat the Mets tonight in their spring training game, 6-3.
The win evens the Yankees’ spring training record at 9-9-2.
To be fair, Severino probably ran out of gas in the fifth. Pitchers are still getting stretched out, and Aroldis Chapman, who replaced Severino, let both inherited runners score. Had Chapman blown away the next two hitters….
A-Rod had two hits to go with his two RBI. Brian McCann had two hits. Didi Gregorius had two hits, scored two runs, and drove one in.
The Pitching Line:
Severino 4 1/3 IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 walk and 5 K.
Chapman 2/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
Betances 1 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Miller 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Olson 2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 walk and 0 K.
Romero 1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk and 2 K.
