S.T. Game 22. Yanks lose 6-2. CC better, Sanchez sent down.

Sorry for the late posting. Busy with Easter stuff and getting my car back after having a rental for two weeks (thanks to a deer).

The Yanks lost Thursday, 6-2 to the Rays, dropping their spring training record to 9-11-2. CC Sabathia improved over his last outing, however, giving up 2 runs in 5 IP.

The Yanks sent Gary Sanchez down to AAA, so it looks like Austin Romine will be the Yanks’ backup catcher to start the season. Maybe Sanchez, given his first shot to make the team, pressed a bit. He hit just .048 (1 for 21) in the spring. This gives the youngster more time to develop, and lets him play everyday instead of twice a week. He’ll be up soon.

Brian McCann had two hits in the game.

The Pitching Line:

Sabathia (L) 5 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 1 walk and 4 K. Gave up 1 HR (to Evan Longoria).
Olson 2/3 IP, 4 R, 3 H, 1 walk and 0 K.
Yates 1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Shreve 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Pinder 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.

Yates, Pinder and Barbato are having a nice competition for that final bullpen spot.
