S.T. Game 26. Teix HRs in Yanks’ 3-2 win.

Mark Teixeira is known for slow starts. The other day he mentioned that he and the batting coaches saw something on a video which is why he was hitting a lot of balls on the ground and had a low batting average so far this spring. So he was working on correcting that flaw, so he would be ready when the season starts next week.

That work paid off tonight when Teix hit a solo HR in the seventh in the Yanks’ 3-2 win over the Tigers. The win puts the Yanks’ S.T. record at 11-13-2.

Dustin Ackley’s 2-run double in the eighth was the game-winner.

The pitching line:

Cessa 3 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk and 4 K. Probably going to AAA for their rotation, but nice job.
Barbato 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 1 K. Still in the mix for a bullpen job.
Chapman 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K. Suspended until May 9.
Goody 1 IP, 2 R, 3 H, 0 walks and 3 K. Stuck out the side, but gave up 2 HR.
Shreve 1 IP, 0 R, 0H, walks and 0 K. Has had an excellent camp.
Moreno (w) 2 Ip, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
