Starlin Castro had a great spring training, had 2 RBI in the opening day loss and kept it up in game 2,  hitting a 3-run HR, getting 4 hits, and driving in 5 runs in the Yanks’ 16-6 rout of the Astros.

Ivan Nova pitched four scoreless innings in relief of a subpar Michael Pineda.

Pineda gave up a HR to Carlos Correa in the first, but the Yanks rebounded with six in the bottom half to go up 6-1. Brian McCann doubled in two.

Pineda gave up a grand slam to George Springer in the second to cut it to 6-5, but Castro’s 3-run HR in the second and Mark Teixeira’s 3-run HR in the third made it 12-5.

Correa hit another HR in the fifth to cut it to 12-6. This kid is a young superstar.

Carlos Beltran hit a HR in the sixth to make it 13-6. The HRs were career #395 for Teix & #393 for Beltran.  Beltran tied Jim Edmonds on the all-time list.

A 2-run triple by Ronald Torreyes and a Castro single closed out the scoring in the seventh.
