Game 37. Unkind welcome to the majors for Green, Yanks lose 12-2.

Chad Green and Conor Mullee made their MLB debuts last night, but it was a rough go for both of them as the Yanks lost 12-2 in Arizona.

Mark Teixeira, who has been in his usual early season slump, got 3 hits. Hopefully it means he is snapping out of it.

Green was 2-3, 1.22 at AAA SWB, but those seven starts were his only starts above AA.

Sammy Ellis 75, and Dick McAuliffe, 76, both major leaguers in the 1960s, died recently.

Ellis was a 22 game winner in 1965 for the Reds, and served as a Yankees pitching coach in the 1980s.He was 63-58, 4.15, ERA+ 88 for the Reds, Angels and White Sox 1962, 1964-1969. He was an All-Star in 1965. He finished 16th in the 1964 MVP voting.

McAuliffe was the 2B on the 1968 WS Champion Tigers when he finished 7th in the MVP voting. He was a 3x All-Star.  He was 76.  He played for the Tigers 1960-1973 and for the 1974 and 1975 Red Sox. A .247 hitter (OPS+ 109), his average 162 g. season was .247-18-64.
