Game 51. Betances & Offense let down CC. Yanks lose 4-1.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

For the 22nd time in 51 games this year, the Yanks scored two runs or less. The result was a 4-1 loss to Toronto.

CC Sabathia pitched well, but was doomed by the lack of run support. The Yanks got a run in the second on an RBI groundout by Hicks.

CC gave up a solo HR that tied the game in the fourth. In the seventh, he gave up a leadoff double.

Dellin Betances came in and not only gave up CC’s baserunner, but gave up two more of his own. Game over.

The Yanks got just one run tonight on six hits.

A bit surprising was that even though a lefty started for Toronto, A-Rod wasn’t in the lineup. Instead, Beltran DH’d and Refsnyder was in RF.

Sabathia (L, 3-4, 2.85) 6+ IP, 2 R, 5 H, 1 walk, 4 K. 1 HR given up. Sad that he just 3-4 with that ERA.

Betances 1 IP, 2 R, 2 H, 1 walk, 1 K. 2.59.

Yates 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 2.25.

The Yanks fall to 24-27.
