Game 56. Did rain delay hurt? Yanks lose 3-1.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Both teams blew plenty of scoring chances, and we will never know if the rain delay hurt the Yanks, who lost 3-1 to Baltimore on Sunday.

The Yanks got their only run in the third on a single by Ellsbury, a WP, and an RBI single by A-Rod.

CC didn’t give up hits, but he was wild. He had to get Trumbo out with the bases loaded twice.

What helped kill the Yanks was that they went 1-11 w/RISP.

Up 1-0 in the eighth, the O’s had two on and one out when the game was delayed b/c of rain. At that point, Chapman replaced Betances. He got a strikeout but  gave up a single that loaded the bases. The next hit brought in two, and a third run scored on a throwing error by Ellsbury.
