Game 57. Beltran’s Belt wins it, 5-2.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

For six innings, the Yanks’ offense didn’t do anything while Masahiro Tanaka pitched decently. Unfortunately for Tanaka, the Yanks’ fireworks came too late for him, but they were in time for the Yanks to win 5-2.

Down 2-0 in the seventh, the Yanks got back-to-back HRs by McCann and Castro to tie the game. It was the 8th HR of the year for each of them.

In the 8th, Ellsbury and Gardner both singled with two out, then Beltran, batting righty, went the other way into the porch for a 3-Run HR which won the game. #14 of the season was #406 of Beltran’s career, placing him one behind Duke Snider on the all-time list.

Ellsbury had 3 hits.

Tanaka 7 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 2 walks, 3 K., 2.76.
Miller (w, 3-0, 1.09) 1 IP. 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 3K.
Chapman (S, 10) 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 2.08
