Game 61. CC comeback player of the year?

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Let’s face it. After 2013-2015, many one of us, including me, thought CC was cooked.

How couldn’t we? CC was 23-27 in that period, ERA 4.81 (ERA+ 83, 17% below league average), and he turns 36 soon.

The new brace, and perhaps his new life, have caused a complete turnaround.

Just a few months ago, when CC checked himself into alcohol rehab, he appeared finished.

Now, he has an ERA of …. can you believe this?   2.28. It’s a shame he is just 4-4.

Last year, when he checked himself into rehab, or even this spring, none of us would have expected a 2.28 ERA right now.

God Bless Him.

The Yanks won 4-0 tonight to go over .500 for the first time this year since they were 4-3.

In his last six starts, CC’s ERA is about 0.70.

In the first inning, McCann drew a bases-loaded walk for a run, then DiDi got a bases-loaded double to drive in two more. That was the game.

Beltran singled in a run in the third.

Some may be disappointed that Swish hasn’t yet been called up. The problem is, entering tonight’s game, he was at only .238 with SWB. In his last 118 at bats, just 1 HR and a .195 batting average. His mobility is limited and lately he has NOT played 1B, just DH’d.

Sabathia (W, 4- 4, 2.28) 7 IP, 0 R, 5 H, 2 walks, 4 K.
Betances  1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 2 K. 3.23
Swarzak 1 Ip, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 0.00
