Game 74. Eovaldi’s June Swoon continues. Yanks lose 7-1.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Nathan Eovaldi had a very good May, but his June is going as badly as his May was good.

Eovaldi gave up four home runs— three in a row—as the Yanks lost to Minnesota to drop to 37-37. The score was 7-1, and Yankees pitchers gave up six home runs total.

The offense was bad also. Facing a pitcher who came into the game with a 6.18 ERA, the first 17 Yanks went down in order before Aaron Hicks doubled. The only Yankees run came on a HR by Teixeira, his first HR since April 13th. Teix’s fourth HR of the season was #398 of his career, tying Dale Murphy on the all-time HR list. Teix’s HR was the second, and last, Yankees’ hit of the game.

Eovaldi (L, 6-5, 5.19) 6 IP, 5 R, 6 H, 3 walks, 4 K. Gave up 4 HR, 3 consecutive.
Cessa 1 2/3 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 1 walk, 0 K. Gave up 1 HR. 3.12. Recalled, Goody sent down.
Bleier 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 3.86
Yates 1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 4.94 Gave up 1 HR.
