Yankee Stadium Frieze

Chase Headley scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the 9th and the Yanks are back at .500 (39-39) after a 2-1 win over Texas on Thursday afternoon.

The Yanks now undertake a 10-game road trip, beginning in San Diego, that ends with the All-Star break.

Michael Pineda continued his resurgence after a terrible start to this season with perhaps his best outing of the year. After giving up a HR to lead off the game, he only gave up one more hit after that and struck out 12.

Didi Gregorius tied the game with a HR (8) in the fifth.

In the ninth, Headley walked, moved up to second on a sac bunt by Didi, and then Aaron Hicks walked. Both runners moved up on a groundout, then came the passed ball.

Pineda 6 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 3 walks, 12 K. 5.24. Gave up 1 HR.
Betances 1 IP, 0 R,  1 H, 0 walks, 2 K, 2.82
Miller 1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 1 K. 1.30
Chapman (w, 2-0, 3.00) 1 IP. 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks, 1 K.

Combined, the Yanks struck out 16 Rangers.
