Game 90. Yanks fall to Boston, 5-2.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

I am sorry for the late report, but I spent 3 hours this morning at the blood center donating platelets.

The Yanks lost 5-2 to Boston on Saturday to drop them to 44-46.

Boston got an unearned run off of CC in the third. Didi made an error.

The Yanks got the run back in the bottom of the third on Brett Gardner’s sixth HR of the season.

Boston got one in the fourth on a couple of dribblers to go up 2-1, but then came the crushing blow in the sixth when CC gave up a 3-run HR. He was also victimized by another dribbler, along with an error (Headley) that inning.

Headley hit his 8th HR of the year in the eighth inning, but outside of the HRs by Gardner and Headley, the Yanks managed only three other hits all game.

Sabathia (L, 5-7, 3.94) 5 1/3 IP, 5 R, 4 ER, 3 walks, 2 K. 1 HR given up.
Swarzak 2 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 walk, 2 K. 4.70
Bleier 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 walks, 0 K. 3.86.

The Sunday game is the ESPN night game.

Sad to hear that NBA great Nate Thurmond passed away at the age of 74.
