Game 114. Yanks rally late for 4-2 win.

Because of Eovaldi’s early exit on Wednesday, and Girardi’s subsequent bullpen usage, the Yanks were forced to make some moves before Thursday’s game vs. Boston. Down went Goody and Refsnyder. Up comes bullpen help in Cessa and Heller.

In what appears to be A-Rod’s last game at Fenway, he went 0 for 4 with an RBI. He didn’t get the ball out of the infield, and his season batting average dropped to .199. He’s 0 for his last 11 heading into his final game tonight (unless something happens, like he signs with another team). He’s 5 for 43 since June 30. It’s time.

Boston scored in the first, but the Yanks tied it in the third on Austin Romine’s fourth HR of the year. Boston went up 2-1 in the fifth.

Gary Sanchez started the winning 3-run rally in the eighth with a single. After Teixeira, now playing for Romine, struck out, Hicks and Gardner singled, loading the bases. Ellsbury doubled in two, and that put the Yanks up 3-2. After an intentional walk to load the bases for A-Rod, A-Rod hit a little tapper that brought in a run to make it 4-2.

Pineda 6 IP, 2 R, 8 H, 2 walks, 3 K. 5.07.
Cessa (w, 2-0, 3.45) 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks, 2 K.
Betances (S, 3) 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk, 3 K. 2.28.

The Yanks are 58-56.
