S.T. Game 4. Estrada’s 9th inning HR lifts Yanks to 4-1 win.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Thairo Estrada hit a 3-run HR in the top of the 9th to lift the Yanks to a 4-1 win over Baltimore in their spring training contest today. The win moves the Yanks to 3-1 for the spring.

Estrada hit .290-8-49 between low A and High A last year. He just turned 21. He is an infielder. He also had 18 SB.

Greg Bird had 2 doubles in the game but needs some work on his baserunning, getting thrown out twice at third when he shouldn’t have been.

So far the pitching competition for the last two rotation spots has been great. All five competitors (Mitchell, Severino, Green, Cessa and Warren) have thrown two scoreless innings each.

Top prospect Clint Frazier had a hustle double.

Chad Green 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 walk, 0 K.
Rutckyj 1 Ip, 1 R, 1 H, 1 walk, 0 K. Gave up a HR. Blown save.
Gallegos 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 walk and 2 K.
Marsh 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Mantiply (w, 1-1) 1 Ip, 0 r, 0 H, 0 walks and 0 K.
Haynes (S) 1 Ip, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.

Yankees’ pitchers combined on a 4-hitter.

There will be two games tomorrow. Split squad. Tanaka starts the home game, Cessa the road game.
