Game 43. Yanks’ bullpen implodes in 6-2 loss.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Jordan Montgomery took a one-hit shutout into the top of seventh. He had a 2-0 lead thanks to HRs by Aaron Hicks (8) and Chris Carter (4).

Montgomery got an out, gave up a solo HR to cut the lead to 2-1 and got another out.

Then the Yankees’ bullpen flushed the game away.

Joe Girardi brought in four relievers, and each of the first three gave up a HR as the Yanks lost the game 6-2.

First was Adam Warren, who gave up a single and 2-run HR to the first two batters he faced. Lead gone. 3-2 KC.

In came Jonathan Holder to start the eighth. He gave up a HR on the first batter he faced. 4-2.

Then came a strikeout and a HBP. In came Chasen Shreve, who promptly gave up a 2-run HR to the first batter HE faced. 6-2 KC.

And that was the final score.
