Luis Severino was fabulous, pitching 8 shutout innings, and Didi Gregorius homered in a 3-0 win over KC tonight.
The win puts the Yanks at 27-17, and coupled with Baltimore’s loss to the Twins this afternoon, gives the Yanks a 2 1/2 game lead in the AL East.
Didi hit his 3rd HR in the third to make it 1-0 Yanks.
In the sixth, Gary Sanchez singled, stole second, and went to third on a throwing error. Matt Holliday hit a SF (I kill for those) to make it 2-0.
In the seventh, Didi doubled, went to third on a groundout and scored on a Brett Gardner single.
Jacoby Ellsbury made a great catch on the first pitch of the game, robbing a double or triple, and stayed in the game. However, between innings, it was determined that he had suffered a concussion in making the catch, and he was pulled. Amazing he was in the game for the final two outs in the top of the first.
Great to see the 23 year old Severino maturing in front of our eyes this year.
