Aaron Judge hit his 17th HR of the season, but it wasn’t enough as the Yanks fell to Baltimore 3-2.
Baltimore had lost 7 in a row, so I guess they were due for a win.
The Orioles scored a run in the first off of Jordan Montgomery, the Yanks’ starter and loser of the game. They got three hits, two with two out, to score their run.
The Yanks tied it in the second on a SF by Aaron Hicks.
In the third, with one out, Castro made an error, and after a fly out, Montgomery once again couldn’t escape the inning unscathed. A single and 2-run double put Baltimore up 3-1.
Judge hit his HR in the seventh to cut it to 3-2, but that was it.
Brett Gardner had 2 hits.
Montgomery (L, 2-4, 4.11) 4 1/3 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 8 H, 1 W, 5 K.
Holder 1 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 W, 3 K. 3.32
Shreve 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 W, 3 K. 0.64
The game is the first of 13 straight against AL East rivals. (Baltimore, Toronto, Boston, and Baltimore again).
The loss makes the Yanks 29-19. Boston also lost, so the Yanks’ AL East lead remains 3 over Boston.
