Luis Severino took a 2-0 shutout into the bottom of the sixth, but he gave up a 2-run HR that inning and Tyler Clippard gave up a HR in the eighth as the Yanks lost to Toronto 3-2 on Sunday. They are off Monday.
The Yanks hit the 1/3rd point of the season at 32-22. Keep it up, Yanks, and you’d finish 96-66 and with that, probably AL East champs. A long way to go, though.
In the fourth, Aaron Judge singled, stole second, went to third on a throwing error and scored on a double by Matt Holliday.
In the sixth, Brett Gardner singled, Gary Sanchez walked, and Gardner went to third on a flyout by Judge. Gardner then scored on an RBI forceout by Holliday.
But in the bottom of the sixth, Luis Severino gave up a 2-run HR to Justin Smoak that tied the game, and in the eighth, Clippard coughed up the game by giving up a HR to Josh Donaldson.

Clippard (L, 0-3, 1.88) 1 IP, 1 R, 1 H, 0 W, 1 K. Gave up 1 HR.
