A-Rod is Boone’s replacement in ESPN booth.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

In the off-season of 2003-2004, Aaron Boone played basketball (thus violating his contract) and tore his ACL, forcing him to miss the 2004 season.

To replace him, the Yankees traded for A-Rod.

Fast forward fourteen years. Boone leaves the ESPN broadcasting booth to become the manager of the Yankees.

And his replacement on the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball telecasts is…. A-Rod.

A-Rod will also keep his recent gig of working for Fox in the postseason.

As Yogi said, deja vu all over again.

Now as far as A-Rod replacing Boone somewhere else ….. nah, that couldn’t happen, could it?
