Game 27. A fine nine. Sanchez’ HR leads Yanks to 9th straight win, 2-1.

Gary Sanchez hit a 2-run HR and CC Sabathia pitched seven strong innings as the Yanks won their ninth game in a row, 2-1 over the Angels, Sunday night.

The Yanks (18-9) stay two games back of Boston, and now head to Houston to face the defending WS Champion Astros for four games.

The Yanks only got four hits in the game and struck out 13x, but scored both their runs in the fourth inning when Stanton doubled and Sanchez hit a 447-ft. HR (7).

The Angels scored in the sixth on two singles and a WP by CC. One single was by Albert Pujols, who is now four hits shy of 3000 for his career.

Sabathia’s 239th career win ties him with Mordecai “Three-Finger” Brown and David Wells on the all-time list.
