Game 79. 4 HR and CC help Yanks sink Boston, 8-1.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

Hopefully, this game gets Greg Bird going.

Plus the fact that the Yanks brought up Brandon Drury from AAA before the game. Nothing like some competition to light a fire under your butt.

Now Drury may still play 1B this weekend, since the Yanks are facing three lefty starters this weekend. But tonight, against one of them, Bird was still in the lineup.

4 HR and CC helped beat Boston 8-1, and now they are in a virtual tie for first, with the 53-26 Yanks ahead percentage-wise on 55-28 Boston.

In the second, the Yanks struck first on a triple by Gleyber Torres and single by Miguel Andujar.

A 4-run fourth salted the game away. Stanton walked and Didi doubled. Torres hit a SF to make it 2-0. Andujar homered (12) to make it 4-0. Bird (4) went back-to-back with Andujar, 5-0.

CC did give up one run in the fifth, 5-1.

Aaron Judge hit HR #21 in the seventh, a two-run shot, to make it 7-1, and Greg Bird got his second HR of the game, #5 on the season, in the eighth for the 8-1 final.

Judge, 2-run HR.
Torres 2 hits, RBI.
Andujar 3 hits, HR, 3 RBI.
Bird 2 HR, 2 RBI.
