Sorry if some people are offended, but I am not a fan of Luis Cessa.
Now the Yanks only scored 1 run tonight, on a HR (19) by Miguel Andujar in the second inning. The Yanks only got 5 hits all night, 2 by Andujar.
I’ve seen enough of Cessa, 26, RHP, to believe that he’ll never be more than a journeyman pitcher. After tonight’s loss, Cessa is 1-3, 5.60 for the season, and in 36 games for the Yankees, 2016 until now, he has 18 starts, 18 relief appearances. 36 games. 5-10, 4.71.
Sorry, Cessa fans, I just don’t see anything there. He gave up a run in the second, and after Andujar tied the game with his HR, Cessa gave up 2 in the third and then a 2-run HR in the fourth.
I really can’t see the Yanks justifying throwing him out there again and not giving a kid like Sheffield or Adams a shot. Heck, I liked Loaisiga better. (To be fair, Sheffield pitched tonight and was lousy. See the minor league report, coming tomorrow).
Prediction: (Sorry again, Cessa fans). Cessa is included in a deal. Maybe this offseason, but there are arms on the way and he will soon be passed over on the depth chart. Cessa reminds me of a Jeff Karstens type.
Boston lost, so the 75-45 Yanks stay 10 back.
Andujar 2 hits, double and solo HR.
