Game 129. Yanks skid continues, lose 4th straight, 5-3.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

The Yanks (83-46) lost their fourth game in a row, 5-3, as Oakland swept the three game series from the Yanks out in Oakland.

Things don’t get easier for the Yanks as they now head to L.A. to face the Dodgers this weekend. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball.

With the loss, the Yanks’ lead in the AL East over Tampa Bay is down to 8 games.

Once again, the Yanks fell behind early and could not catch up. Masahiro Tanaka gave up 3 runs in the bottom of the first. It could have been worse. He got a DP to get out of it with only three runs allowed.

He then gave up 2 more in the third. He settled in a bit and did provide six innings to save the bullpen.

The Yanks got a run in the fifth, extending their streak of not being shut out to 211 games. Gleyber Torres doubled and Mike Tauchman singled him home.

Torres hit a HR (30) in the seventh to make it 5-2.

Torres became the second youngest Yankee to get 30 HR in a season. Only Joe DiMaggio, who hit 46 HR in 1937, was younger.

Torres homered again (31) in the ninth for the final run of the game. 5-3 A’s.

Aaron Judge 2 hits
Gio Urshela the “Golden Sombrero”. 0 for 4, 4 strikeouts.
Torres 4 for 4, 2 HR (31), 2 RBI. Scored all 3 runs.

Tanaka (L, 9-7, 4.68) 6 IP, 5 R, 8 H, 2 W, 5 K.
Cessa 2 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 W, 1 K.  4.23
