Game 137. D.J.’s walkoff HR in 11th wins it for Yanks, 4-3.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

One you didn’t expect to get a win from.

The pitchers gave up 8 hits, but 10 walks, in 11 innings. In and out of trouble. Messy.

The hitters only got six hits, but four were solo HRs.

Finally! The Yanks (89-48) beat the A’s (who have basically had their number for a while), 4-3 in 11 innings.

Before the game, CC placed back on the IL, and Jonathan Loaisiga brought back up.

I’ll be at Sunday’s game.

The Yanks went up 1-0 in the bottom of the second on the first of two Gary Sanchez HR’s for the today. #31.

Domingo German gave up a 2-run HR in the fourth that put the A’s up 2-1.

Sanchez’ 2nd HR of the day, #32, tied the game in the bottom of the fifth.

The A’s got a run in the top of the seventh that put them up 3-2. It probably shouldn’t have been. It appeared that the RBI double was actually a foul ball.

Aaron Judge tied it in the bottom of the eighth with HR #19.

LeMahieu’s walkoff HR (24) in the bottom of the 11th won it.

In between, the A’s kept putting runners on, but couldn’t put the Yanks away, going 1 for 10 with RISP and stranding 15, and the Yanks struck out 15x in the game.

Zach Britton had to leave the game with a cramp in a calf muscle.

LeMahieu solo walkoff HR (24)
Judge solo HR (19)
Sanchez two solo HR (32)
Luke Voit the golden sombrero. 0 for 4, 4 strikeouts.

German was pulled due to pitch count and innings limit.

German 5 IP, 2 R, 4 H, 3 W, 5 K. Gave up 1 HR. 4.01.
Loaisiga 1 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 1 W, 2 K. 1 HBP.  4.87
Ottavino 2/3 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 W, 0 K. 1 HBP.  1.72
Kahnle 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 W, 0 K.  3.17
Britton 2/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 1 W, 1 K.   2.15
Green 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 2 W, 1 K.  5.01
Chapman 1 IP,  0 R, 0 H, 2 W, 2 K.  2.22
Gearrin (W, 1-2, 4.08) 2 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 0 W, 0 K.

The win keeps the Yanks 10 up on Tampa Bay in the AL East and reduces the magic # for clinching the division to 16.

They are a game up on Houston for best record in the AL and one up on the Dodgers (as we await the final of their game Saturday) for best record in the majors.
