Game 69. Yanks beat Rays 5-4 behind Trevino’s blast, Judge 2 HR.

Jose Trevino hit a 2-run eighth inning HR to give the Yankees (51-18) a come-from-behind 5-4 win over Tampa Bay Wednesday night.

Aaron Judge hit 2 HR to raise his MLB leading total to 27.

Tampa Bay got 3 runs off Yankees’ starter Jordan Montgomery in the bottom of the second inning. Isaac Paredes (who hit 3 HR Tuesday night) hit a solo HR, then a few batters later, Vidal Brujan hit a 2-run shot and the Rays were up 3-0.

Judge hit the first of his two homers for the night in the fourth, and it cut the lead to 3-1.

Tampa Bay scored a run to go up 4-1 in the bottom of the fourth, but then came a key turning point in the game. With the bases loaded and two out, Trevino picked off the runner at third, Taylor Walls. If you are a Rays’ fan, you know there is no excuse for that.

The Yanks loaded the bases in the fifth with one out but could not score.

In the top of the sixth, Giancarlo Stanton led off the inning with a walk. One out later, Matt Carpenter singled Stanton to second. After another out, an error enabled Stanton to score and the score was now 4-2.

Judge’s second HR of the game (27) cut the Rays’ lead to 4-3 in the seventh.

In the top of the eighth, Isiah Kiner-Falefa led off the inning with a walk, and Trevino followed with a 2-run HR (6) that put the Yanks up 5-4, which turned out to be the final score.
