The minors.

AAA: SWB got just four hits (they were No-hit Saturday) and made four errors in losing 6-4. Zoilo Almonte and Russ Canzler HR’d. Cesar Cabral is back here and all four of the outs he recorded were strikeouts. In case you are wondering about Austin Romine, he is now hitting .121.

AA: 6-5 win for Trenton. C Gary Sanchez (who, it appears, could be AAA-bound soon to pass Romine on the depth chart) double, HR and 3 RBI. 1B Kyle Roller 2 RBI.

High A: 4-3 win for Tampa. CF Jake Cave 5 for 5 w/2 rbi. Brendan Ryan on rehab 2 for 5 and an rbi.

Low A:  Charleston lost both games of a DH.

Game 1: 5-3.  Phillip Walby 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 5 K. LF Mike O’Neill 2 h, 3 rbi.

Game 2, lost 5-0. They got just 3 hits.

Game 17. Yanks blow 4-0 lead. Bullpen can’t p/u Kuroda.

The Yanks got off to a 4-0 lead, and had a 5-3 lead w/two-0uts in the 7th, but lost 11-5 to snap their five-game winning streak.

Scott Sizemore cleared the bases with a bases-loaded double in the 2nd.

Hiroki Kuroda ran out of gas.  5 2/3, 3 R, 7 H, 2 walks and 2 K. ERA to 4.07.

Phelps 1/3, 1 R. Thornton 2/3, 1 R.

Warren 1 IP, 3 R. (L). There is one thing about Warren’s performance tonight that I did not like. Three straight batters. Three straight that he got two strikes on and could not put them away. All three times, when he got two strikes, he went to a cutter or slider. No fastballs, curves or changeups. If you are the other team, and know he only goes to cutters or sliders when he has two strikes on you, what are you sitting on? You have to diversify better than that.

Cesar Cabral was terrible and needs his ass kicked. 3 R, 0 outs. 3 h. But 3 HBP and he was kicked out of the game. The Yanks may have someone thrown at b/c this dummy hit three batters. There is no excuse for that.

Update: After the game, Cabral was DFA’d & Matt Daley was called up.

Game 10. Yanks beat Boston 4-1

Dean Anna hit his first MLB HR tonight and Michael Pineda pitched great for 6+ as the Yanks beat Boston tonight 4-1. There supposedly was a substance (pine tar?) on Pineda’s hand as he pitched tonight. Controversy?

Pineda 6+. 1 R, 4 H, 2 w, 7 K.

Cabral 2 outs and 2 K.

Phelps 2 1/3, o R, 0 H & 3k. Overall, 1 R, 4 h and 12 K for Yankees pitchers tonight.

Two hits for Jeter tonight.  3325

Minors report tomorrow.

Game 8. Nova and Nuno lousy in 14-5 loss.

Nova and Nuno are two names that are four-letter names. It’s safe to say that both heard four-letter words after their outings today in a 14-5 Yankees loss.

Nova started and gave up 7 R in 3 2/3. Nuno also gave up 7 R, but in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Nova gave up 3 runs before the Yanks had a chance to bat. Cesar Cabral (1/3) and Dellin Betances (1 2/3) pitched scoreless relief.

Rafael Soriano and Kelly Johnson HR’d in the Yankees loss. For Soriano, career HR #407 tied Duke Snider on the all-time list.

Derek Jeter got hit #3322. Jacoby Ellsbury got 3 hits and Yangervis Solarte had 3 hits and an RBI.

UConn pulled off the double, winning the mens’s NCAA basketball title last night and the women’s tonight. The women wound up 40-0 and beat a previously undefeated ND team tonight for the title, and beat ND badly.

Game 8. Lineup.

With a lefty going for Baltimore, Francisco Cervelli is in the lineup and at 1B today.

Gardner LF
Jeter SS
Ellsbury CF
Beltran RF

(Nova P)

Cesar Cabral has been called up to replace the DL’d Robertson. Cabral gives the Yanks three lefties in the bullpen (Nova, Thornton and Cabral).

Yankees moves.

With Robertson DL’d,

Joel Sherman@Joelsherman147m

Talked to Cashman who said will call up either LH Cesar Cabral or RH Shane Greene who opened eyes in camp, to fill DRob roster spot

Yanks trade Eduardo Nunez to Twins for a LHP (minor leaguer).

Joel Sherman@Joelsherman138m

acquired LHP Miguel Sulbaran from the Minnesota in exchange for INF Eduardo Nunez.

Sulbaran is 20, LHP and went 9-4, 2.96 in A ball last year (27 games, 20 starts).
