The Minors.

Michael Pineda could be close to rejoining the Yankees. Bruce Billings was picked up by the Dodgers.

AAA: Pineda tossed 4 1/3 innings for SWB in their 2-1 loss Friday night. 52 of Pineda’s 72 pitches were strikes. He took the loss, going 4 1/3, 1 R, 6 H, 0 walks and 7 K. SWB’s only run came on a HR by 1B Kyle Roller. C John Ryan Murphy had 2 hits.

AA: Trenton won 9-0. Jairo Heredia (4-1, 3.48 at AA) 6 scoreless, 6 K. RF Tyler Austin 3 h, double, HR, 4 rbi. CF Mason Williams 2 h, HR, 4 rbi. C Gary Sanchez 2 hits and just promoted 3B Dante Bichette, Jr. 2 hits and an RBI.

High A: Tampa off.

Low A: Charleston won 6-3. CF Dustin Fowler and 3B Kale Sumner each had 2 H, 2 RBI.

The minors, 7-1-14.

AAA: Swb lost 3-2. Aceves 3 R in 5 1/3. Pat Venditte 5 K in 2 2/3 IP of relief, ERA 3.86. A bit inconsistent. He is the switch-pitcher that the Yanks have had for a couple of years now in the minors. 2 H, HR, 2 RBI LF Zoilo Almonte, who appears to be a better option right now than Soriano or Ichiro. Hey, bring him up, play him every day and see what you really have in him. You aren’t going to know by bringing him up and playing him once a week like he was before. Eventually you have to commit to him or let him go (sounds like dating, right?). RF Jose Pirela (.315, and also a possible replacement for Soriano/Ichiro) 2 hits. 2 hits for 1B Kyle Roller.

Earlier in the day, Jim Miller was called up for Jose Ramirez because the Yanks needed a fresh arm.

AA: Trenton lost 5-4, and it was a terrible outing for Manny Banuelos. He gave up two hits, two walks, got only one man out and all four runners scored. (L, 0-2, 5.09). Jairo Heredia relieved him and did well, 0 R, 1 H, 5 K in 5 2/3. LF Ben Gamel 4 hits and an RBI. C Gary Sanchez 2 hits. 3B Rob Segedin 2 hits and 2 RBI.

CC’s next rehab will be Wed. instead of Thursday.

High A: Tampa won 14-2. The offensive explosion we’d like from the big club. Dan Camarena 1 unearned run in 6 iP. RF Aaron Judge 2 hits, double, grand slam, 5 RBI. CF Jake Cave 4 hits. 3B Dante Bichette, JR. 4 rbi. LF Jose Rosario 2 h, 2 rbi. 1B Greg Bird 3 hits, 2 rbi. Tampa banged out 17 hits and drew 9 walks.

Low A: Charleston scored 3 in the top of the 9th, but gave 3 right back in the bottom of the 9th to lose 9-8. 2b Gosuke Katoh, HR, 3 RBI. Paul’s nephew, Mike O’Neill with 4 hits.

Monday’s minors, 5-19-2014

AAA: SWB won 5-3. Joel De La Cruz 5 2/3, 1 R, 6 K. Jim Miller and Diego Moreno combined for 3 innings of scoreless relief, 5 K. 2B Jose Pirela 3 for 3 and started the game-winning rally in the 10th. CF Adonis Garcia a game-tying 2-run HR in the eighth.

AA: Trenton won 6-4. Jairo Heredia started, went 2 1/3, 1 R, 5 K. Core Kimball relieved, 1 R, 4 K in 2 2/3. C Pete O’Brien, double, HR, 4 rbi.

High A: Tampa won 2-0 on a four-pitcher, combined one-hit shutout. Dan Camarena (3-3, 2.47) six innings. Tampa only got three hits themselves. Camarena retired the first 15, before giving up a walk and a single.

Low A: Charleston lost 6-0, getting just two hits.

Friday’s minors. Tampa wins a marathon.

AAA: SWB (20-20) beat LV, 5-3. SWB B/p 4 scoreless innings of relief. Every player in the lineup had a hit. SS Dean Anna, RF Adonis Garcia (.318) and CF Antoan Richardson each had 2 hits and an RBI. Too bad it was in the middle of the week. I might have taken in a game (LV is only a few miles from my house) if SWB was in over the weekend.

AA: Trenton (23-18) lost 2-0. Jairo Heredia (2.78) 2 1/3 IP of relief, 3 K. Pat Venditte 1 scoreless IP, (0.82). Trenton got just five hits. CF Slade Heathcott with two doubles. C Gary Sanchez is in a slump, down to .246.

High A: Tampa (20-20) won 7-6 in 18 innings. Catcher Wes Wilson four innings of scoreless relief for the win. Dante Bichette, Jr. w/the GW hit.

Low A: Charleston (21-19) split a DH. Two 7-inning games.

Game 1: Brady Lail (6-1, 3.30) 6 Ip, 11 K. Charleston won 4-2. 3B Jose Rosario 2 h, HR, 2 RBI. Solo HR for CF Brandon Thomas.

Game 2: Makeup of the 5/15 rainout. Charleston lost 3-0. Caleb Smith (3-3, 0.70) the hard-luck loser. 6 IP, 1 R, unearned, 8 K, just 2 hits.

The minors on Sunday.

AAA: SWB won 2-1 in 11. Eric Ruth 1 R, 2 H in 5 IP. Not bad for an emergency call up from High A. (Chase Whitley scratched. Could be called up to the Yanks, what with CC on DL? Daley a short-term option and Whitley to start Thursday or relieve with Aceves starting?). DH Zelous Wheeler solo HR. LF Zoilo Almonte 2 h, rbi.

AA: Trenton lost 4-3 in 14 innings in the completion of the suspended game. Jairo Heredia again. 3 IP, 0 R, 5 K. INF Dan Fiorito actually pitched a scoreless inning. RF Pete O’Brien a 2-run HR. DH Ben Gamel 3 for 6.

Update: Regular game: Trenton won 15-0. LF Taylor Dugas, 4 h, 2 RBI. 5 RBI, inc. HR, for CF Ben Gamel. 5 RBI, inc. 2 HR, for RF Pete O’Brien. Two others, 3 hits each. Matt Tracy 7 scoreless IP.

High A: No game.

Low A: Charleston won 3-1. Brady Lail (5-1, 3.35) 6 Ip, 1 R, unearned, 9 K. SS Tyler Wade 2 h, rbi. CF Mikeson Oliberto 2 rbi.

Saturday’s minor league action.

AAA: SWB lost 9-2. 2B Jose Pirela 2 h, solo HR.

AA: Trenton’s game was suspended in the bottom of the 13th (rain) with the game tied at 3. It will be finished before the regular game today. Jairo Heredia 3 scoreless IP of relief, 5 K. RF Pete O’Brien, just called up from High A, 2-run HR. DH Ben Gamel 3 hits.

High A: Tampa lost 5-3. 1B Greg Bird a 2-run HR.

Low A: Tough 1-0 loss for Charleston. 1B Mike Ford with 2 hits.

Wednesday’s minors.

AAA: SWB won 3-1. Brian Gordon (2-2, 4.23) 7 Ip, 1 R, 7 h, 2 walks, 3 K. Jose Ramirez (keep an eye on him for a possible 2014 callup) and Matt Daley finished up. It was Ramirez’ first appearance of the year. He’s 24 and the team is high on him. Last year he was 2-6, 3.67 between AA/AAA with 78 K in 73 2/3 IP. Meanwhile, the Yanks released IF/OF Ronnier Mustelier. 3B Zelous Wheeler with a hit, rbi (.373).

AA: Trenton won 6-4 in 12 innings. Jairo Heredia 3 scoreless IP of relief, W, 6 K. Heredia, 24, is someone I’ve been following for a while. He missed all of 2012 with shoulder surgery. The Thunder got three two-run homers. One by DH Kyle Roller, one by 2B Rob Refsnyder and the game-winner by 1B Dan Fiorito. Roller, a 1b/dh who is 26, is at .392-9-23. He’s 6’1″, 250, and a lefty bat. Callup to AAA coming soon?

High A: Tampa got four in the eighth to win 4-2. Eric Wooten (2.89) 2 R, 7 IP. RF Pete O’Brien and 3B Eric Jagielo with back-to-back HR, O’Brien’s a 2-run shot. O’Brien is at .330-10-19. The righty-hitter will be 24 in July.

Low A: 5-4 loss for Charleston. DH Abiatal Avelino 4 for 4, 2 doubles, rbi. 1B Mike Ford 2 hits, solo HR.
