The Yanks announced some players that will be going to the Arizona Fall League (taken from the Lohud Yankees blog):

• Initial Arizona Fall League rosters were announced today. The Yankees are sending RHP Chaz Hebert, LHP Tyler Webb, C Gary Sanchez, 3B Eric Jagielo, SS Tyler Wade and OF Dustin Fowler. There are still two open spots for Yankees pitchers (I wonder if Jacob Lindgren might be a possibility).

AAA:  SWB won 2-1. Kyle Davies 1 R in 6 IP. 2 h, solo HR SS Gregorio Petit. 2B Ali Castillo 3 hits.

AA: Trenton lost 7-1. Trenton got just five hits. LF Jose Rosario 3 for 3.

High A: Tampa lost both games of a DH.

Game 1: 2-0. 3B Miguel Andujar with their only hit.

Game 2: 3-1, and Tampa got just 4 hits in this one, two by 2B Abiatal Avelino.

A: Charleston got two in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 win.

The minors. Refsnyder roars.

The Railriders banged out 18 hits, scored 5 in the first and 7 in the fifth. Jorge De Paula 2 R in 5 2/3 IP.

The minors, and moves.

The Yanks were off today, but did pick up a half a game over Tampa Bay because of the Rays loss to the Angels. In that game, Albert Pujols passed Mickey Mantle on the all-time HR list, hitting #537. The Yanks now have a 2-game lead in the AL East.

The Yanks brought up Mason “Classical Gas” Williams up from AAA. How I hope they play that song for his walk up. It’d be perfect, right? Williams, 23, between AA/AAA this year, was at .318-0-22 with 13 sb. Good speed, CF, lefty hitter, no power, good defense. He’ll enable Gardner to go back to LF and be there until Ellsbury is ready. Last year, Williams hit just .223 at AA with 21 SB. While he is up, the Yanks hope he plays good D, and gets the occasional hit and SB.

So in the past few days, (and LoHud had a nice chart)…

Ryan replaces Pirela as backup IF. Ryan better D, and the vet. Pirela maybe the better hitter, but Ryan earns the bigger $$$.

Williams replaces Flores in the OF.

By necessity, because of Miller’s DL stint, Chris Martin (fresh off rehab) replaces him.

I think Miller returns after the ASG.

In a few weeks, Ellsbury and Nova should be ready. Ellsbury replaces Williams. As for Nova, that’s a more difficult call. Do you send Lindgren down? Does Nova go into the rotation with Warren to the bullpen (appears that way)? Does Nova go into the bullpen? Does Lindgren stay and say, the Yanks DFA Rogers or Capuano?

In addition the Yanks traded David Carpenter to Washington for a minor league second baseman, Tony Renda, who will probably go to AA.  Renda, a righty hitter, is 24 and was hitting .267-1-23 with 13 SB at AA Harrisburg.

Now for the minors.

AAA: 9-2 win for SWB.  Kyle Davies (5-3, 4.03) 2 R in 6 1/3. 1B Kyle Roller 2 h, 3 rbi. 3B Cole Figueroa 3 h, 2 doubles, rbi.

AA: Trenton won 6-0 on a combined one-hitter. Sergio Santos, just acquired, pitched a scoreless inning with 2 K. C Gary Sanchez (injured bruised hand) left the game in the 2nd and his replacement, Francisco Arcia, homered. Judge, Bird, Jagielo and Arcia all w/2h and an RBI.

High A: Regular game: Tampa lost 3-1. Gregorio Petit, on rehab, 1 for 2 w/a walk.

Makeup of 6/10 rainout: 4-3 loss. SS Tyler Wade, C Kyle Higashioka and LF Ericson Leonora all with 2 hits each.

A: 4-3 win for Charleston.  CF Dustin Fowler 2 h, HR , 2 RBI.

The Minors. Tampa no-hits Lakeland for 11 1/3, loses in 16.

AAA: SWB won 5-1. Bryan Mitchell (4-4, 2.86) with another solid outing, albeit a bit wild. 6 scoreless innings, 2 hits but 7 walks. CF Mason Williams 2 rbi. 2B Brendan Ryan 0 for 4 on his rehab. 3B Jonathan Galvez 3 hits, rbi.

AA: Trenton won 6-4. 3B Eric Jagielo 3 h, rbi. C Gary Sanchez 2 h, rbi. LF Danny Oh 3 hits, rbi.

High A: Tampa Game 1 (reg. scheduled game): Won 2-0 on a combined four-hitter. 1B Mike Ford 3 for 3, 2 rbi.

Game 2: Makeup of 6/2 rainout: Lost 2-1 in 16 innings.  Tampa no-hit Lakeland for 11 1/3 innings. Tough one to lose. 2B Abiatal Avelino 3 h, solo HR.

Jordan Montgomery 6 2/3 IP, 1 R (unearned) 0 H, 0 walks 6 K
Andury Acevedo 1 1/3 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 2 K.
Angel Rincon 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 walks and 1 K.
Connor Kendrick 5 1/3 IP, 1 R, 4 H, 0 walks and 2 K.

A: Charleston won 6-3. C Collin Staybaugh 4 for 4. SS Jorge Mateo 2 h, 2 rbi, 37th SB. 2B Angel Aguilar 2 h, rbi.

The Minors.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

AAA: SWB won 2-0. Jaron Long, son of former Yanks’ hitting coach Kevin Long, pitched 7 2/3 .

AA: Trenton won 6-3. Eric Ruth,  6 IP, 2 R. 3B Eric Jagielo homered for the second straight game. (.303-9- 31). 2B Jose Rosario 3 h, HR, 2 rbi.

High A: Tampa off.

A: Charleston lost 4-2. Besides SS Tyler Wade at High A Tampa, SS Jorge Mateo is down here. He had 3 hits today, a HR and 2 RBI. Although hitting just .255-2-16 and with 13 errors, (Wade is hitting about .325 at Tampa), Mateo did steal 3 bases today, giving him 32 so far this season.  He isn’t 20 yet. Wade is 20. So there is SS hope for the future if Didi Gregorius, 25, continues to struggle.

The Minors.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

AAA: SWB lost 4-1. Kyle Davies 1 R in 5 ip. 3 Hits for LF Ramon Flores.

AA: Trenton won 8-6. 3B Eric Jagielo 3 H, 2 RBI (.302). 2B Jose Rosario 3 h, 1 RBI. LF Taylor Dugas 2 hits, 2 RBI. SS Ali Castillo 2 h, 2 rbi.

High A: Tampa lost 4-1. 2 hits, SS Tyler Wade (.325).

A: Charleston lost 2-1. 3 hits, solo HR DH Chris Breen.

The minors.

Yankee Stadium Frieze

AAA: SWB lost 5-0. On rehab, Chris Capuano pitched well but took the loss since he got no run support. His relief didn’t help either. Capuano went 4 2/3, 1 R, 4 H, 2 walks and 4 K. Ben Gamel, .351, had two hits. He DH’d today.

AA: Trenton gave up a run in the top of the 8th but scored in the 8th and 9th to win 2-1. 3B Eric Jagielo tied the game with a HR (5) in the 8th, and CF Jake Cave’s single won it in the 9th. Jagielo, a lefty-hitting 3B, could be our next Graig Nettles (but the Yanks would have to get rid of Headley, who is signed for the next three years, unless Headley moves to 1B after Teix is gone). .271-5-20 so far for Jagielo. I have said to keep an eye on Miguel Sulbaran, who is overshadowed at Trenton by Luis Severino. Sulbaran tossed six shutout innings tonight and has an ERA of 2.45. He is just 21 and a LEFTY. In his minor league career so far, he is 27-16, 3.21. He appears to be one of those guys no one talks about but who keeps putting up good numbers. Good numbers, just 21, lefty, already in AA. I like what I am reporting about him.

High A: Tampa lost 8-4. 3B Miguel Andujar HR, 2 RBI.

A: 6-2 loss for Charleston, who made five errors. Solo HR for SS Jorge Mateo, but he did make two errors.
