Minor league report. Tampa tosses a 1-hitter. Big day for Hess at Low A.

header_1.jpg

I am amazed how, 10 games into the season, some Yankees’ fans are criticizing Aaron Boone and Phillies’ fans Gabe Kapler. Some of the Phillies’ players are already ripping Kapler.

These are new rookie managers. 10 games? Really?

As far as Boone goes, I haven’t seen anything to criticize him on yet. For one thing, he can’t control the injuries that have hampered him. For another, it’s not his fault some guys haven’t performed yet (Sanchez 2 for 32 and Stanton 7 for 42 with 20 strikeouts, also the bullpen has been shaky and that was supposed to be a strength).

Give it more time. Criticizing Boone after 10 games? Really?

Minor League Report: Tampa comes back to win game 1 of playoffs, 8-6 in 10. Hurricane Irma disrupts FSL.

cropped-the-stadium-facade.jpg

Brian Keller got knocked out in the first inning, giving up 5 runs, but Tampa came back to win Game 1 of their playoff series (a best of 3), scoring 3 in the top of the 10th, to win 8-6 in 10 innings. Great relief job by Adonis Rosa.

2B Hoy Jun Park 2 hits, HR, 2 RBI.
3B Gosuke Katoh Solo HR.
CF Estevan Florial 2 hits.
1B Tim Lynch 2-run HR in the top of the 10th.
DH Dalton Blaser 2 hits, solo HR.

Keller 2/3 IP, 5 R, 4 H, 2 W, 0 K. Gave up 1 HR.

Because of Hurricane Irma, there will be NO Championship series for the Florida State League. The winners of each of the first round series will be declared co-champions. As for Tampa’s series, Game 2 will be played today. If Tampa wins, they are co-champions.

If they lose, Game 3 will IMMEDIATELY follow, and the winner of that game will be declared a co-champion.

The AAA, AA and Low A series will all begin today.  Thank goodness no hurricane to disrupt things there….

Ok, time to report on baseball with no brawls.
