The Yanks just traded for Brandon Drury, who is presumed to be the Yanks’ starting 3B on Opening Day, but Miguel Andujar is saying “not so fast.”
Andujar, 23, who hit a walkoff HR on Monday night, hit another HR on Tuesday against Toronto in the Yanks’ 9-8 win.
The win puts the Yanks’ spring training record at 5-0.
The question with Andujar isn’t his bat or arm, it’s his glove.
Toronto got a run in the second when ex-Yankee Russell Martin homered off of Chad Green.
The Yanks’ tied it in the top of the fourth on a HR by Danny Espinosa. Espinosa, the former Nationals’ regular, is trying to make the team as an infielder, 2B/SS/3B. He is signed to a minor league deal at present. Good power and D, too low a batting average and too many strikeouts. That is what he needs work on.
The Yanks made it 2-1 in the fourth, scoring the second run on a WP.
Toronto got two in the bottom of the fourth to go up 3-2.
The Yankees tied it in the top of the sixth on Andujar’s HR.
Toronto got two in the bottom of the sixth to go up 5-3.
OF Shane Robinson cut it to 5-4 in the top of the seventh with a SF, and 1b Ryan McBroom tied it in the eighth with a HR.
But the Yanks were not done in that eighth inning. A WP made it 6-5 Yankees, then OF Mark Payton hit a bases-loaded double to make it 9-5.
Toronto got a run in the eighth on a HR by Reese McGuire, and two in the bottom of the ninth on a HR by Jason Leblebjian.
Payton 1 for 1, 3 RBI.
Andujar solo HR.

Keep an eye out this year on that new rule change limiting trips to the mound. Even though it’s just spring training, Sanchez, who makes a lot of trips, had to watch himself on Monday night. He is trying to prepare himself for the season, and it could have hurt Chance Adams on Monday night. Sanchez wanted to go to the mound and didn’t, because of this new rule. We’ll see how it affects pitchers. The best can work things out on their own, but it’ll be interesting to see how the youngsters are affected if they run into trouble and the catcher or a teammate can’t visit the mound.
