The minors.

No postseasons for these teams. This ends the minor league season.

AAA: SWB won both the suspended game and the regularly scheduled game over LV today. It kept them out of last place (LV finished in last) in their division. SWB finished at 68-76, LV at 66-78.

Suspended game: 2-1 win. Rob Refsnyder the walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the 9th. Kyle Roller HR.

The minors.

Sorry for no minor league report yesterday, but I was busy and didn’t have the time to write one up.

AAA: SWB lost 6-5 to Lehigh Valley. Manny Banuelos went 4 innings, 3 R, 6 H, 1 walk and 4 K. CF Adonis Garcia 2 doubles, rbi. 3B Scott Sizemore solo HR. C John Ryan Murphy 2 hits, HR, 3 rbi.

AA: Trenton lost 3-0. Luis Severino (L) 4 2/3 IP, 1 R, 5 H, 1 walk and 4 K. C Francisco Arcia and 2B Dan Fiorito each had two hits. Severino, 20, is 6-5, 2.46 in 24 starts this year (combined leagues).

High A: 8-4 loss for Tampa. DH Mike Ford and 2B Jose Rosario 2 RBI each. Tampa has been eliminated from a playoff spot, so no teams A through AAA will be in the postseason.

Low A: Charleston won 6-1. Rookie Davis 6 IP, 1 R, 4 h, 2 walks, 9 K (7-8, 4.93). DH Mike O’Neill (Paul’s nephew) 3 hits, rbi. C Eduardo De Oleo 3 hits, rbi. 2 hits and an rbi for both 1B Jackson Valera and LF Brandon Thomas.

The minors.

I was underwhelmed and not thrilled with the Yanks’ moves at the trade deadline yesterday. You can read my previous post for my opinion(s).

One thing I didn’t mention in that post is that there is a 27-year-old Cuban defector, Rusneys Castillo, who each team is looking at. The speedy OF is a righty-hitter who has good opposite-field power. The Yanks sent four scouts to look at him and many other teams are after him too. Estimates say it’ll take $30-$45 million to sign him. Jay-Z is his agent, which may or may not be a good thing (think Cano). So we’ll see if the Yanks are in play for him. Despite the Prado acquisition, getting someone in their prime like Castillo would be a plus.

AAA: Scott Sizemore was released. SWB won 8-4. Bruce Billings 1 R in 6 IP. Pirela and Refsnyder at it again (I wanted both called up. Instead the Yanks went out and got Drew and Prado). LF Pirela (.313) 3 hits, single, double, triple. Refsnyder, who now will concentrate solely on 2B, 2 hits, 2 RBI (.301 at AAA after .342 at AA). 2 hits, solo HR for C John Ryan Murphy.

AA: 2-1 win for Trenton. 6 2/3 shutout innings, with 8 K for hitting coach Kevin Long’s son Jaron (4-0, 2.73 at AA). RF Jake Cave 2 hits, 2B Casey Stevenson 2 h, rbi.

High A: 3B Eric Jagiello 2 h, rbi as Tampa lost 7-3.

Low A: Charleston lost 1-0, getting (and giving up) just three hits. DH Tyler Wade 2 hits. Chaz Hebert the tough-luck loser, 7 IP, 1 R (unearned), 2 H.

The Minors, 7-4-14.

AAA: Rob Refsnyder hit a 3-run walkoff HR with 2 out in the bottom of the 9th to give SWB a 7-6 win. Refsnyder had two hits in the game and is now hitting .333 for SWB in 25 games after hitting .342 in 60 games at AA (Overall, .340-10-42 in 85 games AA/AAA). Pat Venditte threw two scoreless innings of relief, as did Danny Burawa. All of Burawa’s six outs came via the K. DH Kyle Roller had two doubles and an RBI, and 3B Scott Sizemore had three hits, two doubles and 2 rbi.

AA: Trenton’s game was ppd.

High A: DH Greg Bird hit a solo HR in the top of the 12th to give Tampa a 1-0 win. Miguel Sulbaran 5 IP, 0 R, 1 H, 5 K. Hitting coach Kevin Long’s son, Jaron, pitched two scoreless innings.

Low A: Charleston lost 6-1.

The minors 7-3-14.

AAA: SWB won 4-1. Chris LeRoux 6 IP, 1 unearned run, 1 hit. LF Jose Pirela (.322) 3 hits. 3B Scott Sizemore 2 rbi.

AA: Trenton won 8-0. Matt Tracy (8-2, 3.28) 5 IP, 0 R, 1 hit. 1B Rob Segedin, 3 hits, HR, 4 rbi. DH Ben Gamel 2 h, 2 rbi. C Pete O’Brien 3 hits. LF Zach Wilson 2 h, 2 rbi. CF Mason Williams 2 hits.

High A: Tampa won 4-3. RF Aaron Judge HR, 3 rbi. 2 hits, rbi for dh Matt Snyder. Luis Severino 6 IP, 0 r, 2 hits.

Low A: Charleston lost 10-5. CF Mike O’Neill HR, 3 rbi. Four players with 2 hits each.

The Minors 7-2-14. CC not good on rehab.

AAA: SWB had a DH.

Game 1: 1-0 loss in 8 IP (Dhs are 7 innings each in the minors). Shane Greene six scoreless IP, Matt Daley with the loss. 2B Jose Pirela (.321), 3 hits. RF Taylor Dugas 2 for 2.

Game 2. SWB got swept. 3-1 loss. Dugas, in CF this game, triple, rbi. 3B Scott Sizemore 2 hits.

AA: Trenton lost 8-6. CC started and wasn’t good in his rehab stint. 3 2/3 IP, 5 R, 3 ER, 5 H, 1 walk and 2 K. C Gary Sanchez 2 h, 3 rbi.

High A: Tampa ppd. rain.

Low A: Charleston lost 7-4. Top draft pick Jacob Lindgren struck out the side, but did give up 1 R on 1 hit, in his 1 inning of work. He hit a batter and threw two wild pitches. CF Dustin Fowler, a 2=run HR. DH Jackson Valera 2 rbi.

The Minors, 6-30-14.

AAA: SWB lost 9-7 to LV. 3B Zelous Wheeler (.305) 2 H, HR, 2 RBI. 1B Scott Sizemore 2 triples, 2 RBI. CF Taylor Dugas 2 hits, 2 rbi.

High A: Tampa off.

Low A: Charleston lost 4-2. Three players (DH Rey Nunez, 3B Miguel Andujar, and 2B Gosuke Katoh) with 2 hits each.
